One World One Heart 2011

Photobucket

Hi! Welcome to my One World One Heart Giveaway!

My name is Miss Mary, and my blog exists to document my handwork while putting it in the context of a long line of women who sew. My blog is named for Lillian Catherine, my great-grandmother. One of her hand-stitched quilts hangs on my wall, and one of her quilt tops serves as the background image of this blog. Recently I encountered a picture of her I'd never seen before and was struck by such a familiar profile, even before I learned it was Lillian.

For more information about me and what kinds of projects I enjoy, see the label cloud in the sidebar.

Now for the giveaway!

I am giving away quilter's cotton:

1 fat eighth of zebra print
1 fat quarter of seafoam dot
40 five-inch charm squares ranging from blues to browns and including some walnut-dyed print

To enter, please leave a comment by February 17.

In your comment, please tell me something you are doing now that you never expected to be doing, or tell me something you are doing or have done that you thought was impossible!

Personally, I am looking at going back to school and studying some conglomerate of neuroscience, math, possibly physics, who knows where the adventure will take me. Meanwhile I am excited about doing something I never would have imagined for myself and turning something seemingly impossible into reality!

Make sure you either include your email address in your comment or your email address can be found through your blog profile. The giveaway is open internationally, and random.org will select my winner.

Thanks so much, and click the image at the top or in the sidebar to enjoy the OWOH ride!

It looks like I am the first to share something about myself that is unexpected or impossible... holy smokes, that is a tough one! I'm going to say that this year I will make a greater effort to drive on the highway when we are travelling!

The first thing I noticed was the family resemblance between you and your great grandmother even before I read your post. Uncanny. My grandmothers were also quilters and I am happy to be the preserver of several of their quilts for future generations. I keep one draped over the chair in my studio and everytime I lean back against it I feel comforted, just like getting a hug. I'm so glad to meet you, you seem like a kindred spirit. Hope you have a wonderful time at the OWOH. Hugs!

Something I never thought I'd be doing? My son needs a shirt to wear under a suit on Saturday. I've lengthening the sleeves 9 cm by using the lower halves of the sleeves from another shirt. Hi MissMary,
yes, I know of Geiselwind - but I've never been there. I have a sneaking suspicion that it's not exactly a centre of rockin' nightlife and exquisite culture, but a rather sleepy little town with a leisure park. Kind of like the Disneyland of upper Bavaria.
What am I doing that I didn't expect to find myself doing? SURFING DOZENS OF GORGEOUS BLOGS LOOKING AT OTHER PEOPLE MAKING STUFF INSTEAD OF MAKING MY OWN (haha!) Really, I wish people wouldn't make such clever and inticing stuff - I might get more work done.

Hey Miss Mary, It's wonderful to meet you and to discover your blog via OWOH. I like your "rules to govern creativity". I should print those out and keep handy for when I'm working! Something I never thought I'd do... blogging. However I'm a complete procrastinatrix when it comes to blogging. Love all that fabric. What a great giveaway. Please count me in. ~Michelle, OWOH #598~

Mary, what a pleasure to run across your blog! It's just lovely, and I am signing up as your latest follower! I'm so anxious to take a look around and learn more of your beautiful work. I adore the header on your blog and that you've named it for your great-grandmother. It's so nice to find another blogger so connected to family and heritage.

Your giveaway is wonderful, and someone will be so fortunate! I'll be keeping my fingers crossed. Meanwhile, I'll be coming back to visit with you again, and I hope you'll drop by for a visit with me when you have a few moments.

So nice to "meet" you, and thank you so much for the chance to win.

Blessings,
