Lillian's Stitches

Her name was Lillian Catherine. Her mother was Cherokee, her father was English. She lived around the Tennessee/Virginia line.

Her daughter was Frances Uneva. Frances named her third daughter Catherine.

Catherine (called Suzi) named her daughter Mary. Yesterday, with the help of her friend, Mary hung Lillian's quilt on her wall and let her eyes spin over the flowers and stars, marveling. E. L. Konigsburg says it is unwise to learn something new every day. There are days when one ought to learn nothing new but rather let all one knows well up inside of them. Such are these spring days! They say Maries (plural of Mary?) store up things and ponder them in their hearts. Though my ponderings are not written here, they are peaceful and happy, and I hope yours are just as pleasant!

Spring!

Been waiting for these to bloom...

Been watching these bust out... That little purple guy is named Stephen...

Been doing a lot of this...

And this...

And this...

Spring has finally arrived! I'm pulling back from most projects for the time being but continue with the last square of my current valence on my cathedral window quilt. As this one is completed, I can stitch together two sets of three blocks and attach to the center, then the two sets of five and attach, and then... well, then we'll give it a rest for a bit. Meanwhile, I've raided JoAnn's remnants again (one of my favorite things to do!) and snagged bits and pieces for baby quilts (both in the sketchbook and in process).

Spring Break next week! Expecting to put together some denim pieces for Mem-Hey and do some prep work for our school's upcoming charity auction. If I build the ark, the critters will come [she muses ambiguously]... Much is afoot! Huzzah!

OWOH Winnings, Part 2

...To a mailbox near me they CAME!

Beautiful polymer clay lentil beads and swirly hearts from Elaine at TooAquarius.

And she threw in a freebie! Such a sweet spring sentiment! Thank you for such lovely Canadian treasures!

Next in my mailbox...
Vintage book and hand-painted card from Helen and Marianne at The Strawberry Mallard.

Loved the dedication... Although not a housewife and homemaker, we women tend to be overworked :-) Looking forward to getting into the text as soon as I make the time. The weather is awakening and the parks here are singing their siren songs. I've been away too long.
